Join this fun career and be a part of what ABCnews.com names the fourth hottest job in the United States, at a national average pay of $25 an hour. Whether as a career move or for your own personal knowledge, get all the information you need to become a certified personal trainer. This program is offered in conjunction with World Instructor Training Schools (W.I.T.S.), which offers one of the top four certifications for personal fitness training and is the number one certification for Bally Total Fitness. W.I.T.S. is an approved CEU provider for the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers (BOC), the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) and veterans training and education. The course does not guarantee a certification but rather prepares you to take the certification examination.

This challenging course is taught over a five-week period. The national exam is given the sixth week.

Fifteen hours of hands-on practical training is conducted at nearby Omni in Beaufort and prepares you to work with clients one-on-one. Classroom instruction is at TCL’s Beaufort Campus.

Topics include anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition and health screening. Upon certification, proof of CPR and AED certification and a 30-hour internship are required to work successfully in the fitness field.
