The Entrepreneurship Club at TCL is open to all TCL students.
Building a business from the ground up is much like building a home or building-requiring a good design, solid foundation, and strong structure. Often, outside resources are needed to build a home and keep it functioning over-time. Buildings come in all shapes and sizes and the internal finishings never look the same.
The same goes for starting a business. Missing components or lack of planning can impact the integrity, efficiency and/or long term performance. Let us use our expertise to help you, design, build, and grow your business from the ground up!

Workshops and Meetings
The TCL Entrepreneurship Club will host a series of workshops over the Fall and Spring semesters, designed to assist students develop their business ideas and design comprehensive business plans. The schedule is outlined below.

- March 2 10:30am Building 14 room 113 -Writing the Financial Section of your Business Plan
- March 16 10:30am Building 14 room 113 – Detailed information on packaging and branding
- March 30 10:30am Building 14 Room 113 – Details on patents, trademarks, service marks and copyrights

Staff & Advisors
Candice Chastain is a full time Business faculty member at the Technical College of the Lowcountry where she instructs courses in marketing, management, personal finance, entrepreneurship, small business planning and management. Mrs. Chastain serves as the faculty advisor for the TCL Entrepreneurship Club at TCL. Mrs. Chastain recently completed the SC Technical College System Leadership Academy and Faculty Academy located in Columbia, SC.
Candice is the co –owner of Cornerstone GIS, a Geographic Information Systems Company located in Charleston, South Carolina. Her passion is encouraging entrepreneurship and supporting business start-ups.
Mrs. Chastain holds an MBA from Charleston Southern University, and Associate’s Degree in Marketing and Management from West Virginia State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies.
David Johnson served the Technical College of the Lowcountry as a full-time Business Instructor for over 11 years and continues to serve business students throughout South Carolina as an Adjunct Instructor both at TCL and Furman University. During his academic career at TCL, he was responsible for developing and teaching a variety of marketing and general business courses in the classroom, via cable TV, and on-line via the Internet. Mr. Johnson instructed courses in Personal Finance, Marketing, Introduction to Business, Fundamentals of Supervision, Business Math, Managerial Communications, Entrepreneurship and others.
Mr. Johnson is the founder and initiator of the TCL Entrepreneurship Program at TCL and served as Faculty Advisor to the Student Future Entrepreneurs Club.
Mr. Johnson’s experience stems from a 30 year career with AT&T and Lucent Technologies with managerial assignments in Operations, Production Management, Sales and Intellectual Property Licensing. During his time with AT&T he, also served as Account Manager for AT&T (Japan) and as VP and managing Director of AT&T Korea (Seoul).
Mr. Johnson holds an M.B.A in Management from Suffolk University, and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
