Phlebotomy

Students will learn to follow universal precautions, tie tourniquets, identify veins, and demonstrate knowledge and use of necessary equipment necessary for drawing blood. Students will be able to identify appropriate tubes and labels for tests, prep the site, perform venipunctures and finger sticks.  The student is not certified after this course but is qualified to be a phlebotomist in the state of SC. To be eligible for certification exam, please go to ASPT.org for requirements.


Beaufort Campus

Currently, all Phlebotomy classes are full.  In order to be placed on a waiting list you must complete all required WorkKeys testing (see below) and then contact Rhonda Johns at 843-525-8308.


Tuition $950, book, SLED check, malpractice insurance, gloves and immunizations are extra
Prior to paying tuition, students must:

  • Make an appointment to meet with Rhonda Johns (843-525-8308) after taking three WorkKeys tests,
  • Score at 5 (Gold Level) on Workkeys Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Locating Information.  If all three tests are taken within one week the tests are free; if it takes longer to complete the three tests than one week, the tests are $18 each test.  WorkKeys testing is offered on Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday at Beaufort County Adult Education located at 1300 King St., Beaufort, SC.  Please arrive prior to 1:00pm.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check ($26)
  • Updated Immunizations and CPR required
