Students will learn to follow universal precautions, tie tourniquets, identify veins, and demonstrate knowledge and use of necessary equipment necessary for drawing blood. Students will be able to identify appropriate tubes and labels for tests, prep the site, perform venipunctures and finger sticks.  The student is not certified after this course but is qualified to be a phlebotomist in the state of SC. To be eligible for certification exam, please go to ASPT.org for requirements.

Tuition $799, book, SLED check, malpractice insurance, gloves and immunizations are extra
Prior to paying tuition, students must:

  • Make an appointment to meet with Aimee Parry (843-525-8368) after taking three WorkKeys tests,
  • Take Workkeys Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Locating Information required.  If all three tests are taken within one week the tests are free; if it takes longer to complete the three tests than one week, the tests are $18 each test.  Tests are offered on Thursdays at 9:00AM, call 843-525-8205 for more information.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check ($26)
  • Updated Immunizations and CPR required
