Drawing

Students will learn drawing techniques for drawing still life, landscape, people and whatever they see. This two part series will cover 24 hours of intensive skills taught by local artist, William Capers on the TCL Hampton Campus.

Students Will:

  • understand the techniques on how to draw pictures from any position at any angle
  • understand how to draw without concentrating on a particular area of their picture
  • learn how to draw using real models
  • understand how to make caricatures using real people and photos
  • understand the concept of shading, lights and tones
  • learn and understand surrealism
  • check out pieces of artwork from other artists
  • understand how to draw with a pen and learn shading techniques such as crosshatching
  • learn how perspective works when drawing settings and landscapes
  • learn how tracing when drawing cartoons
  • understand how political cartoons are a form of expression

Materials Needed:

Students should bring pencils (regular or ebony), erasers (kneaded if possible), sketch pads, pens (ballpoint or fine), colored pencils, photographs, and pictures from magazines.

Dates:
June 18 through July 9 (no class 7/4), Mondays and Wednesdays, Noon- 2p.
