Meet Your Instructor:

Eric Smith owns the portrait studio Captured Moments Photography in Beaufort SC.  He recently moved his studio here from Maryland. He has won numerous awards in print competitions for both portraits and art photography.

Interested in photography since high school, he started his photography career in the United States Army, where he attended Army Photo School and was later the base photographer for his unit in Germany for 3 years.  After the military, he ran the Army Reserve photo unit while completing his Bachelors degree from San Jose State University in California.  Eric is a full-time photographer with Captured Moments. His studio specializes in high school seniors, families, babies, and weddings. He has always been on the cutting edge of digital photography, having a 100% digital studio years before most photographers made the switch.  His latest passion is artistic photography using the High Dynamic Range photography, or HDR method.  His work can be seen at
