Gainful Employment Programs

Final regulations published in the Federal Register on October 29, 2010, require institutions to report certain information about students who enrolled in Title IV eligible educational programs that lead to gainful employment in recognized occupations. Those regulations also provide that institutions must disclose to prospective students certain information about the institution’s Gainful Employment programs.

Gainful Employment programs include only training programs of at least one academic year that lead to a certificate and credentialed non-degree programs (credit programs requiring 30 or fewer credit hours and clock hour programs requiring 600 or more contact hours). These programs prepare students for gainful employment in recognized occupations.

The Technical College of the Lowcountry offers several certificate and short-term training programs that are Title IV eligible but do not lead to an associate degree and are therefore subject to Gainful Employment disclosure requirements.  Here is a link to the certificate and short-term diploma programs that the Technical College of the Lowcountry offers that are subject to Gainful Employment Disclosure requirements.

Notes:

  • The information about jobs is provided by the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration to provide descriptions of occupations, as well as expected median salaries for those occupations.
  • The median loan value is the middle number (in a sorted list of numbers).  Half the numbers in the list are less, and half the numbers are greater.  These values do not represent the mean or average.  “NOT APPLICABLE” may indicate that fewer than ten (10) students were reported and information was not disclosed for privacy reasons.
  • Program costs have been calculated assuming in-state residency for tuition purposes.  Students who do not qualify for in-state residency for tuition purposes will have increased costs beyond those provided here.

Books and other program supply costs may vary based on the vendor that the student selects.
