TCL surgical technology instructor elected president of state assembly

Technical College of the Lowcountry Surgical Technology Instructor JoLane Buss was recently elected as President of the S.C. Surgical Technology State Assembly during its fall meeting in Rock Hill, S.C. The state assembly is the state level association that represents the National Association of Surgical Technologists.

 

Buss has served as surgical technology instructor at TCL since 2005. Prior to TCL, she served as a Certified Surgical Technologist, specializing in orthopedics and trauma at Memorial Health Center in Savannah, Ga. Previously she was the private scrub/assistant for an orthopedic surgeon at Northeast Colorado Surgery Clinic in Sterling, Colo., and also served as Director of Sports Medicine at the Sports Med Clinic in Sidney, Neb.

 

Buss holds a B.S. in Physical Education with a minor in health/kinesiology from Washington State University in Pullman and an M.A. in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greely. She became a certified athletic trainer in 1986 and passed the Surgical Technology National Certification exam in 2001.
