The Technical College of the Lowcountry will officially charter its Rotaract Club at a special ceremony tomorrow, May 2, at 6 p.m. at the New River Campus in Bluffton. TCL’s Rotaract Club is being sponsored by both the Hilton Head Island Rotary Club and the Rotary Club of Bluffton.

Rotaract is an international service club uniting with 180,000 young people in 165 countries and geographic areas who belong to over 7,800 Rotaract clubs around the world.  Along with commitment to community and international service, Rotaractors strive to develop leadership and professional skills that will benefit them throughout their career. Rotary, Rotaract’s parent organization, is an organization of business and professional leaders united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.  Over 1.2 million Rotarians, from virtually every nation, plan and carry out a remarkable variety of humanitarian, educational, and cultural exchange programs that touch people’s lives in their local communities and our world community.

The TCL Rotaract Club currently has 12 members and 4 executive board members who have already been very active in completing such events as:

  • Holding a canned food drive in November for the Lowcountry Food Bank
  • Adopting a family in need for the December holidays
  • Holding several car washes and bake sales on campus
  • Participating in the Lowcountry Heart Walk
