TCL to offer nationally recognized certified logistics, production programs in Colleton

The Technical College of the Lowcountry Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development will offer two nationally recognized certified programs – Certified Logistics Technician and Certified Production Technician – beginning in September at the Colleton Career Center in Walterboro.

 

Certified Logistics Technician

Certified Logistics Associate (CLA)

Topics: Global supply chain logistics life cycle, Logistics environment, Material handling equipment, Safety principles, Safe material handling and equipment operation, Workplace communications, Quality control principles, Teamwork and workplace behavior to solve problems, using computers

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, September 17 – October 10, 2012 or November 19 – December 12, 2012

Cost: $895. Includes Work Keys Testing for part one. Prerequisite: Silver level Work Keys assessment.

 

Certified Logistics Technician (CLT)

Topics: Product receiving, Product storage, order processing, Packaging and shipment, Inventory control, Safe handling of hazmat materials, Evaluation of transportation modes, Dispatch and tracking, and Metric conversion

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, October 22 – November 14, 2012 or January 7 – 30, 2013

Cost: $895. Students must take the CLA before taking the CLT.

 

Certified Production Technician 

Part 1- Safety

Topics: Production Teams, Training & Leadership, Safety Organization, Personal Protective Equipment, Work Area Safety, Fire and Electrical Safety, Hazardous Material Safety, Tool and Machine Safety, and Material Handling Safety

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, September 17 – October 10, 2012

Cost: $895. Includes Work Keys Testing for part one. Prerequisite: Silver level Work Keys assessment.

 

Part 2- Quality Practices and Measurements

Topics: Multi-view Drawings, Sectional Drawings and Fasteners, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Basic Measurement, Precision Measurement Tools, Dimensional Gauging, Quality Systems, Statistical Process Control, Control charts, Continuous Improvement 1

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, October 22 – November 14, 2012

Cost: $895.

 

Part 3- Manufacturing Processes and Production

Topics: Mechanical Principles, Mechanical Linkages, Machining Processes, Machine tooling, Machine Operations, Equipment Procedures, Production Planning and Workflow, Production Control

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, November 19 – December 12, 2012

Cost: $895.

 

Part 4- Maintenance Awareness

Topics: Basic Electrical Circuits, Electrical Measurements, Electrical Power, Pneumatic Power Systems, Hydraulic Power Systems, Lubrication Concepts, Bearings and Couplings, Belt Drives, Chain Drives, Machine Control Concepts, Machine Automation, Welding

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, January 7 – 30, 2013

Cost: $895.

 

Part 5- Green Production

Topics: Environmental issues, Implement and Promote Environmental Program, Projects, Policies and Procedures, Conduct Environmental Incident and Hazard Investigations, Conduct Preventive Environmental Inspections, Reprocess Materials by recycling and Reuse

Date/Time: 5:30 to 8 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, February 4 – 27, 2013
