The Technical College of the Lowcountry Division of Continuing Education will offer a series of photography classes taught by professional photographers. Classes will be appropriate for beginners through advanced, as noted, and will be held in February and March.
Digital Photography Basics: “The Art and Science of Snapshotology”
Bring any digital camera and learn the basics of getting a great shot.
6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, February 16, Beaufort Campus

Digital PhotographyIntermediate: “Settings, more settings and shutter speeds”
Bring your digital camera and review conventional and auto settings, and learn the basics of shutter speeds.
Learn how to fix a picture without relying on the ‘auto-fix’ feature. Includes retouching, corrections, restoration and more. Also, get basic knowledge of layers. Recommended that the Beginner class be taken first.

More with layers and other fun tools including adding textures, frames, localized corrections, and more. Recommended that Beginner and Intermediate classes are taken prior.

For professionals that need top-notch software for serious editing skills. This is a basic course introducing students to the software and basic concepts.
6 to 8 p.m., Monday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 7, Beaufort Campus
Go beyond the basics of digital photography. Explore your camera settings and learn how to better control depth of field, exposure, and focus to capture creative images. Students will learn how to use all of the shooting modes available on their camera through in-class sessions. Students will also be introduced to taking photos at night and learn more about flash photography. Students need to bring their own digital camera, owner’s manual and a desire to take better photographs.
