SETTING UP YOUR TCL STUDENT EMAIL

As a TCL student, you have access to your free personal TCL email account, which is immediately available for your use for as long as you’d like . . . even after you graduate (it’s also an important method that the college will use to communicate with you, so be sure to check it often).

Instructions for Accessing Your TCL Email:

Note: Do not click the “Sign Up” button located on the Windows Live screen. TCL has already created your Windows Live ID and initial Password. To begin with the Sign In procedure and change your Password, follow the procedures below:

Step 1:

Access the Windows Live Hotmail Sign In prompt at http://mail.live.com.

Step 2:

Type your Windows Live ID in the space provided. Your Windows Live ID is your first and last name@my.tcl.edu and should be typed as one word: firstnamelastname@my.tcl.edu. Notice the entire Windows Live ID is typed in lowercase letters with no spaces. For example, the Windows Live ID for John Smith would be johnsmith@my.tcl.edu and susansmith-jones for Susan Smith-Jones.

Step 3:

Type the last seven numbers of your social security number as your initial password.

Step 4:

Click the “Sign in” button. You will then view several screens that allow you to configure your profile and change your password.

Step 5:

Change your password. Your new password must be 6 to 9 characters in length including letters and numbers. When creating your new password, you will receive feedback about how strong or weak your new password is. Be sure to create a password that is not in the weak category. It is also good idea to choose one of the “Hint” options in case you forget your password. Note: If you should forget your password, call the Help Desk at 843-525-8344 to have your password reset.

Step 6:

For security purposes, DO NOT CHECK the “Remember me on this computer” box or the “Remember my password” box unless you are using your home computer and are sure that no one else would have access to your account.
