Congratulations to the Class of 2016!

The Technical College of the Lowcountry honored 379 graduates at its 2016 Commencement Exercises on Friday, May 13 at the All Weather Facility on Parris Island. Graduates were awarded a total of 509 associate degrees, diplomas and certificates in health sciences, business, industrial technologies and transfer programs.

TCL’s class of 2016 also included 25 high school seniors who received college certificates and associate degrees through the Early College Credit Opportunities program.

In his remarks, President Richard Gough offered words of gratitude and congratulations to the graduates. “Our diverse student body is well represented tonight,” he said. “Whether you are going right into a career or have decided to continue your education, we are immensely proud. You will make the Lowcountry a better place to live and work, and that benefits us all. Thank you.” Read the full article here.

Students who anticipate completing all of their requirements during the summer, 2016 can apply to be an “Early Walker” – this means that you will participate in the formal graduation ceremony on May 13, even though you will not complete your remaining program requirements until the summer, 2016.  The deadline to apply as an Early Walker is also March 1st. There is no fee to apply to graduate.   If you plan to graduation after the Summer semester, the deadline for applications is July 1.  If you have any questions, please contact the Student Records office at 843-525-8210.

Awards ready for pick up

Awards for December 2015 graduates (degrees, diplomas, and certificates) are available for pick up from the Student Records office in Building 2 on the Beaufort campus.  Awards can be picked up from Tuesday,  January 5  through Friday, January 15.   Office hours are Monday – Thursday 8:00 – 5:30, Friday 8:00 – 4:30. Please bring a photo ID.  NOTE: Diplomas for graduates who submitted their application after the October 1st deadline may not yet be available – please contact the Student Records office to determine availability.

All graduates who live in the area should pick up their award in person to avoid any potential for the award to be “lost in the mail.” Awards for those who live out of the area will be mailed the week of January 18th  to the address listed on the graduation application. Graduates whose address has changed since submitting the graduation application, should notify the Student Records office of their new address prior to January 15 by e-mailing srecords@tcl.edu or by phone at 843-525-8337.

Option to Pick up Diplomas from the New River Campus

If you would prefer to pick up your award from the New River campus, please notify srecords@tcl.edu prior to January 15 – awards can then be picked up at the Student Services office on the first floor at the New River campus on Tuesday, January 19th.  Please note that only diplomas of students who request to pick them up from the New River campus will be available at New River.

Option to Have Someone Else Pick up Your Diploma

Graduates who wish to have someone else pick up their award should provide that person with a signed letter authorizing allowing TCL to release the award. The authorization should include the name of the person authorized to pick up the award and must be signed by the graduate.

Early Walkers

Awards for Early Walkers will not be available until the end of the Summer semester.
