What makes this community special? The first thing that comes to mind is the quality of life we enjoy. The pristine beaches, vast marshes, moss-draped oak trees and the calm Southern way make the Lowcountry unique and desirable. But isn’t it more than that?
Consider our remarkable access to state-of-the-art healthcare, diverse educational opportunities, a large military community, rich history and heritage, and world-renowned resorts and dining establishments. The Lowcountry would not be what it is today without these assets; these assets would not be what they are today without the Technical College of the Lowcountry.
TCL, your community college, provides affordable access to quality higher education. TCL’s graduates empower and elevate local hospitals, construction companies, small businesses, law offices and everything in between. Our alumni’s collective contribution strengthens this amazing community we call home.
Our work is not done, though. The College continues to adapt to meet the changing workforce needs of Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton and Colleton Counties. For example, we recently:
- Established our School of Public and Human Services on the Beaufort Campus, becoming the first to offer a pre-police academy program in the State of South Carolina.
- Invested more than $600,000 to upgrade every classroom on every campus with today’s latest classroom technology.
- Expanded our online campus to include 10+ online programs and more than 100 online courses.
- Secured funding to build The Culinary Institute of the South that will bolster hospitality and tourism, the Lowcountry’s #1 industry.
We look forward to making 2019 our best year yet. Your support maximizes our ability to better serve more students. Your support makes TCL stronger and more relevant. The stronger we are, the better the Lowcountry. No matter what.
Richard Gough, Ed.D.
