Certified nursing Assistants perform Activities of Daily Living under the supervision of nursing staff.  Employment opportunities include positions  in skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, medical offices, assisted living facilities and home health agencies.  Students that successfully complete this state-approved course are eligible to sit for the South Carolina Nurse Aide Registry Certification exam. This course is 110 hours.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: To provide basic level of both knowledge and demonstrable skills for individuals who provide nursing or nursing related services to residents in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or nursing facility (NF) and who are not licensed health professionals or volunteers, who provide services without monetary compensation.

Prior to paying for tuition, students must:

  • Make an appointment to meet with Cynthia Gray (843-525-8368).
  • Take WIN or WorkKeys Applied Math, Locating Skills and Reading For Information.  All 3 tests are free.  Testing is offered at Beaufort County Adult Education located at 1300 King St., Beaufort, SC.  Testing is available Monday through Thursday.  Please arrive before noon.
  • Take the WIN or WorkKeys in Hampton through Hampton County Literacy Council call 803-943-2461 to register (Test is Wednesday, 8:45am at TCL-Hampton).
  • Take the WIN or WorkKeys in Hampton through the Jasper/Hampton Adult Education program call 803-903-1052 for more information.
  • Pass a SLED criminal background check ($26)
