Students will learn to follow universal precautions, tie tourniquets, identify veins, and demonstrate knowledge and use of necessary equipment necessary for drawing blood. Students will be able to identify appropriate tubes and labels for tests, prep the site, perform venipunctures and finger sticks.

Upon successful completion of this 114 hour (11.4 CEUs) program, the student is eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association certifying exam.

Tuition $1020 (includes textbook),  SLED check,
Prior to paying tuition, students must:

  • Score at 5 (Gold Level) on WIN or WorkKeys Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics and Locating Skills. All 3 tests are free.  Testing is offered at Beaufort County Adult Education located at 1300 King St., Beaufort, SC.  Testing is available Monday through Friday.  Please arrive before noon.
  • Pass a Criminal Background Check ($26)
  • American Heart Association CPR for Health Care Providers is required
  • Make an appointment to meet with Cynthia Gray (843-525-8368) after taking three required entrance tests
