Dear Friends,
As Chair of the Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation Board, I am honored to write to you during this season of giving. My connection to TCL runs deep—I served on the faculty for many years, witnessing how education creates opportunities and transforms lives. Today, I am proud to continue supporting TCL’s mission through the Foundation.
Here’s something surprising: despite being a public state institution, TCL receives only 20% of its operating budget from the state of South Carolina. The rest comes from tuition, partnerships, and the generosity of donors like you. You bridge the gap between what’s funded and what’s possible.
This year, your support has:
- Provided scholarships that open doors to the future for deserving students.
- Expanded workforce training programs that upskill workers in hospitality, welding, and healthcare.
- Advanced facilities like the Culinary Institute of the South and the Arthur E. Brown Regional Workforce Training Center, which will train for high-demand careers.
TCL is a gateway of opportunity. It’s where students of all backgrounds come to gain the education and training they need to succeed, for our communities to succeed.
