Hampton resident joins TCL Area Commission

Marjorie Thomas was recently appointed by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley to the Technical College of the Lowcountry Area Commission, which serves as the College’s governing board.


Thomas will represent Hampton County and replaces former commissioner Dr. William Small.


Thomas is a retired Area Director with the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce after serving for 34 years. She was named Hampton County Chamber of Commerce Person of the Year in 2005. She is a former board member of the Lowcountry Workforce Investment Board; Southern Carolina Alliance Board; Hampton County Economic Development Board; Lowcountry Resort Islands and Tourism Board; Lowcountry Leadership Board; and Hampton County Chamber of Commerce Board. In addition, she is a former member of the Colleton, Beaufort and Jasper County Chambers of Commerce; the International Association of Workforce Professionals; and the South Carolina State Employees Association and is a graduate of South Carolina Economic Developers School; Leadership Lowcountry; Southern Carolina Leadership; and Leadership Colleton.
