TCL Foundation honors distinguished donors, volunteers

Distinguished Foundation DonorsThe Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation recently honored more than 60 distinguished donors at a dinner held at the New River Campus Angus Cotton Academic Center. Donors included individuals, business and organizations who have given or pledged at least $1,000 to the Foundation in the last year.

 

In addition, three special award presentations were made:

  • The TCL Corporate Partner of the Year award went to Palmetto Electric Cooperative in recognition of its recently established G. Thomas Upshaw Endowed Scholarship Fund at TCL. In addition, Palmetto Electric gives generously to the Build A Better Beaufort Scholarship Program.
  • The TCL Philanthropist of the Year award was presented to Lou Gast, who gave $50,000 this year to establish the Lou Gast Endowed Educational Scholarship. Gast, who has supported TCL scholarships since 1996, has given more the $96,000 in student scholarship support.
  • Two TCL Fundraising Volunteer of the Year awards were presented to TCL employees Melanie Gallion and Rosemary Hunt. Their exceptional leadership of TCL’s 2015 staff and faculty campaign helped raise $17,000.
