The Technical College of the Lowcountry Foundation recently received an $18,000 donation from the Hilton Head Hospitality Auxiliary for scholarships to benefit second-year health science students at TCL who reside in southern Beaufort County.
One of the Foundation’s key missions is providing scholarship funds to deserving students such as Valerie Borders, a student in the physical therapist assistant degree program and past Auxiliary scholarship recipient.
“With this scholarship, I am now able to directly focus on my studies rather than on the monies needed to pay for the courses. The students of TCL are blessed to have organizations such as the Hilton Head Hospital Auxiliary that take an interest in the continued growth and education of others who wish to expand their knowledge and explore new opportunities,” Borders said.
The TCL Foundation has awarded more than $1.7 million in scholarship funds since its founding in 1983. As the Community’s College, TCL strives to provide an affordable, accessible and quality education. Donations given by organizations such as the Hilton Head Hospital Auxiliary make that a reality for hard-working, talented and deserving students.
In addition to providing scholarship assistance, the Foundation establishes private sector support to further enhance the College’s teaching and educational capabilities while supporting TCL’s vision to provide innovative workforce solutions.
