Ever had a penchant to sew, create the perfect floral design or decorate a cake?  The Technical College of the Lowcountry Life Enrichment Center is offering a variety of crafts classes in September that allow students to explore their creativity.

An eight-hour sewing course taught by Sharon Holmes allows one to master a sewing machine, several sewing techniques and a project of choice.  For beginners and those with experience! Holmes’ philosophy on sewing is a passionate pleasure that she turned into a business and that she believes is accessible to all.  This sewing course is offered from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursdays, September 8 through 29 in Beaufort and costs $79 per person.

Floral Design

Basic Floral design is for the beginner. This course teaches flower arranging and bow making. Students will be able to tie bows with satin, cloth or velvet ribbon and will learn techniques for preserving and re-using year after year. They will also learn how to use ribbon for dressing up baskets, potted plants or vases. The beginner will learn how to arrange flowers in a round bouquet using fresh and silk flowers. Students will learn how to wire roses and carnations and put together a bud vase.  This class meets from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays, September 12 through 28 and costs $75 per person.

Cake Decorating

Learn to perfect the art of decorating a cake.  This three-part series costs $349 per person and begins September 29 with the Wilton Method and continues through October 29 to assembling and decorating a tower-tiered cake with string work, flowers and borders. The class will meet at TCL’s Beaufort campus on Thursdays from 6 to 9 p.m. and some Saturdays from  9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students will receive a list of materials to purchase prior to class starting.
