Amazon recently announced that for every 100 print-and-paper books it sold, it’s also sold 105 e-books.

Today’s writers have more power than ever to get their works seen and distributed at a low cost.

“Whether you’re writing for family, clients, or the general public, your work can be noticed and distributed online around the world,” says Stephanie Edwards, local author and instructor with the Technical College of the Lowcountry Life Enrichment Center.

Edwards will teach “Making Money with E-Books” this Saturday, June 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at TCL’s Beaufort campus. Cost is $69.

The class will help students learn about the various electronic publishing media available and how to navigate those options. Participants will learn about Smashwords, Amazon-Kindle, Nook-Pub-It, Scribd, and several other viable e-book options.

Edwards knows the routes that a story idea must travel before it reaches its destination in publication. The local author just completed her first novel A Husband, a Loft and a Dog and touts that when she isn’t writing, she’s teaching about writing or publishing.
