The Technical College of the Lowcountry Division of Continuing Education will offer a veterinary assistant course at the New River Campus in Bluffton. The 36-hour certification course will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., Tuesdays, July 17 through October 2. Cost is $619.
As the number of veterinarians grows to meet the demand for veterinary care, so will the number of veterinary technicians needed to assist them. The opportunities for employment as a veterinary technician are projected to grow faster than average through 2018.
Veterinary assistants perform a wide variety of clinical and technical tasks. New technologies are revolutionizing the field of veterinary medicine and veterinary assistants will play vital roles in the continued care and medical treatment of animals.
Upon completion of the program, participants will have the knowledge necessary to qualify for an entry-level position as a veterinary assistant.
