Program Description


The Architectural Design Technician  certificate explores beginning and advanced concepts of design and construction techniques in residential and light commercial buildings including 3-D designing. Students also create and develop a portfolio with projects from architectural, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, other residential and light commercial design components.

The 34-credit-hour certificate program can be completed in as little as three semesters.

Courses include building systems, residential design, history of architecture, and intermediate and advanced architectural computer graphics. Students get hands-on experience in the latest computer-aided design (CAD) software applications in TCL’s computer labs.

The S.C. annual mean wage for architectural drafter is $51,820, according to 2017 reports from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

What does the program cost?

Tuition: 34 credits x $190 per credit = $6,460.

Remember, this is before S.C. Lottery Tuition Assistance and other financial aid, which could drop your costs by more than half. In fact, after financial aid, many TCL students attend for free.
