Program Description


The Computer Technology (CPT) associate degree program is designed to prepare graduates for entry-level positions in information technology (IT).

The 60-credit-hour Computer Technology Associate Degree program can be completed in as little as five semesters, or you can complete classes as your schedule allows. Evening, online and in-person classes give you the flexibility you need.

The program includes a wide variety of computer and information technology courses such as database, networking, programming and security. General education courses round out the curriculum. Graduates leave with a comprehensive understanding of all things computer.

What does this program cost?*

Tuition: 60 credits x $190 per credit = $11,400.

Remember, this is before S.C. Lottery Tuition Assistance and other financial aid, which could drop your costs by more than half. In fact, after financial aid, many TCL students attend for free.

*Based on Fall 2019 in-state, in-service-area tuition. Your actual cost may differ. Does not include fees, books and other costs. Qualifications vary.

Career & Education Opportunities:

Computer Technology graduates meet the qualifications for most entry-level IT positions in a wide variety of working environments. From entry-level positions, opportunities exist for advancement into systems analysis and design, database administration, software development, and network administration, as well as supervisory positions.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2017, the annual mean wage for computer user support specialists was $47,040. The report indicated that employment of computer support specialists is projected to grow 12 percent from 2014 to 2024, faster than the average for all occupations and that more support services will be needed as organizations upgrade their computer equipment and software.
