Solar Thermal Technician: Certificate
Heat up your career.
Learn how to tap into heat from the sun to create energy, for a career that will always be hot.
Solar thermal energy generation is sustainable, green and efficient. It uses light from the sun to create heat, and that heat is used to run a heat engine, which turns a generator to make electricity.
TCL’s Solar Thermal Technician Certificate program teaches students to design, install, maintain, and repair solar thermal systems. You’ll learn both solar thermal technologies and plumbing, enhancing your skill set above the basic plumbing certificate.
Courses emphasize “green” building techniques, as outlined by the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) principles, to ensure you have the skills needed for jobs today and tomorrow.
TCL’s 21-credit-hour Solar Thermal Technician Certificate program can be completed in as little as two semesters. Evening classes are offered. Hands-on courses include tools and usage safety, plumbing installations and repair, basic solar energy technology, and solar thermal systems, design and installation.
Certify Your Skills
Students will have substantial knowledge of solar technologies and electrical installations equivalent to a master electrician. Students will qualify for and succeed on the NABCEP Entry Level Exam (North American Board of Certified Energy Providers). Students will perform at the Installer Certification level.
