Upward Bound (UB) is a federally funded educational program whose goal is to provide low-income, first-generation high school students better opportunities for attending and graduating from a four-year college or university.
Since 1983, the Upward Bound Program has helped hundreds of high school students in the counties of Beaufort, Colleton, Hampton and Jasper counties attend and obtain a four-year college degree. Some of the services offered through this program are:
- Academic Support and services
- Cultural Trips
- Assistance with College Applications; Financial Aid and Scholarship Searches
- Peer Mentoring and Career Preparation
- Tutorial Assistance
- Leadership Development
Upward Bound provides services to the following high schools:
Beaufort; Battery Creek; Colleton County; Estill; Ridgeland Hardeeville; Wade Hampton; and Whale Branch Early College High Schools.
