The Technical College of the Lowcountry is offering free tuition and fees* through the fall 2022 semester, thanks to a combination of available federal, state and private funding sources. This promise is our way of showing that we believe in our students and in higher education.

Who Is Eligible?

TCL’s free tuition program is available to South Carolina residents with a desire to begin or continue their education, including:

All college-eligible students who enroll in a TCL academic program for six credit hours or more this fall are eligible for TCL’s free tuition program.

*Includes required fees. Does not include books or required supplies. Does not apply to Dual Enrollment and/or Transient Students.

How Do I Qualify?

To qualify for TCL’s free tuition program, students must complete a 2022-2023 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), or FAFSA waiver (if applicable). Some types of aid require an additional signed affidavit. Please check your TCL email.

Heads up students: TCL is extending free tuition program into fall 2022, officials say

Beaufort Gazette/Island Packet, July 24, 2022

South Carolina residents looking to further their education in Beaufort County can do so for free at the Technical College of the Lowcountry. The free tuition program began in the fall of 2021 following the announcement of a workforce scholarship from Gov. Henry McMaster that would go to all of South Carolina’s technical colleges. Now, that program has been extended to include the fall 2022 semester at TCL.
