IT’S OFFICIAL.

The Student Records office provides a variety of services in order to maintain official student records including grades, graduation requirements and official transcripts. The Registrar and Assistant Registrar are in the office Monday -Thursday 8 a.m.-5:30 p.m. We work remotely on Fridays, 8-11:30 a.m. You can still reach us at srecords@tcl.edu. If you call the office, we will return your call when we return to the office on the next business day.

Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) — TCL maintains educational records in compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act. FERPA sets forth requirements regarding the privacy of student records. FERPA protects students’ rights to inspect and review their education records, to request to amend their educational records, and to limit disclosure of personally identifiable information contained in education records.

Student educational records are defined as records, files, documents and other materials that contain information directly related to a student and are maintained by the institution or by a party acting for the institution. Education records are not: sole possession records, law enforcement unit records, unemployment records, medical records or post-attendance records.

All currently enrolled students, regardless of age, are protected under FERPA.

Military Transfer and Experiential Credit — TCL recognizes the American Council on Education’s Military Guide for credit recommendations for formal courses and occupations offered by all branches of the military. Using provided Joint Service Transcripts (JST), Division Deans review and determine credits applicable to the student’s declared program of study. While transfer credit may be awarded for service schools attended and certain military experiences, all students must complete a minimum of 25 percent of the credit hours required for a degree, diploma, or certificate program at TCL. For detailed information, please see the Experiential Credit procedure found at: https://www.tcl.edu/about-tcl/consumer-information/policies-procedures/ under Academic Affairs.

Student ID Numbers — students are assigned a TCL student ID number upon acceptance to the college. After submitting their application, students can visit the Enrollment Services office on the Beaufort campus or the Student Services office at the New River campus; ID numbers are provided to students at that time. Students may also obtain their ID number by logging into their TCL Self-Service account. Instructions and login information is available from the TCL Self Service page.
