New Student Orientation


New Student Orientation is for all new students. It’s the best way to get all of the information you will need to begin and complete your educational journey at Technical College of the Lowcountry. Keep in mind that we recommend that you meet with your advisor and register for classes BEFORE orientation.


Orientation includes:

  • Financial Aid Information
  • Academic Advisor and Program Information
  • Important Dates to Remember–Registration, Financial Aid, and Bill Pay
  • Campus Tours

Choose an orientation that fits your schedule!

The Technical College of the Lowcountry will be offering orientation EVERY Tuesday and Thursday through the end of August via Zoom! These will take two hours, and are offered twice a day-one at 10:30 AM, and one at 4:30 PM. Be sure to register at the links below! Sessions will begin promptly at the indicated start time.

Blackboard Orientation:

After you register for classes, the orientation will be available to you in your Blackboard account. Students that complete the online orientation will receive a certificate for 15% off at the Bookstore. Some exclusions apply, see store for details. Must present orientation completion certificate.



Wednesday Webinars

Technical College of the Lowcountry will be offering two “Wednesday Webinars” to assist students following their New Student Orientation. Members of our Enrollment Services staff invite students to pop-in to a webinar to get answers to any troubles they are facing throughout their first few weeks of classes.

Now what?

After you have completed Orientation, here are your final steps before starting next semester:

Student ID

Obtain your free Student ID card. Student ID cards are frequently required to verify your identity prior to receiving services in TCL support offices (i.e. Library, Bookstore, Student Records, Financial Aid and the Business Office). Keep your Student ID card with you on campus.

Parking Permit

Obtain your free Parking Permit. Be sure to bring your license plate number and expiration date with you.

Don’t Forget

Follow up with Financial Aid

  • Good: email
  • Better: email your Financial Aid Advisor

  • Best: Visit the Financial Aid Office

Buy your books

  • To buy your books at the Beaufort bookstore you will need a copy of your printed class schedule and your Student ID. The bookstore is not responsible for checking on your Financial Aid. Please be sure that you have funds in your account before purchasing your books using Aid.  You can view your most accurate available balance for books in your Self-Service account.

Pay your bill or set up a payment plan

  • Online through Self-Service or In-person with the Business Office.
  • The payment plan is 25% of your balance payed prior to the payment deadline.  This will allow you more time to pay your bill. Payment plans must be completed in person at the Business Office.
