New Student Orientation


New Student Orientation just got a new look!  Orientation is for all new students. It’s the best way to get all of the information you will need to begin and complete your educational journey at Technical College of the Lowcountry. Orientation should be completed prior to registering for classes at TCL.

Online New Student Orientation

Orientation is a one stop shop for everything you need to know to successfully navigate your enrollment and registration process at TCL.  You will also learn about Financial Aid, Bill Pay, Important Deadlines, Campus Services, Campus Events and more!    The Orientation should take you approximately 30 minutes to complete, and if you need to step away and finish later, it will pick up right where you left off. Now what?

After you have completed Orientation, here are your final steps before starting next semester:

Student ID-Due to the impacts of Covid19, we are not issuing IDs until the campus offices reopen to the public. If you need an ID as required by your program, program directors will work with student records to get you your ID.

Obtain your free Student ID card. Student ID cards are frequently required to verify your identity prior to receiving services in TCL support offices (i.e. Library, Bookstore, Student Records, Financial Aid and the Business Office). Keep your Student ID card with you on campus.

Parking Permit-Please go to security guard station at the Beaufort Campus for parking passes.

Obtain your free Parking Permit. Be sure to bring your license plate number and expiration date with you.

Buy your books-Due to the impacts of Covid19, the bookstore is open on limited hours for in-person book purchases. Books can be ordered online using the link below and shipped to your home free of charge.  You can also schedule a curbside pickup of your books. See the bookstore website for more details.

  • To buy your books at the Beaufort bookstore you will need a copy of your printed class schedule and your Student ID. The bookstore is not responsible for checking on your Financial Aid. Please be sure that you have funds in your account before purchasing your books using Aid.  You can view your most accurate available balance for books in your Self-Service account.

Pay your bill or set up a payment plan

  • Online through Self-Service or In-person with the Business Office.
  • The payment plan is 25% of your balance payed prior to the payment deadline. will allow you more time to pay your bill. Payment plans must be completed in person at the Business Office.
