South Carolina Free Tuition for Children of Certain War Veterans, Police Officers, Firemen, or Rescue Workers Application: Children of deceased or 100% disabled Veterans, who were killed or disabled during military service, can attend any SC State-supported institutions up until their 26th birthday and pay no tuition. Fees still apply.
- Complete the Application: Applications are available inside the Veterans Resource Center (Building 12: MacLean Hall, Room 107 or Building 2: Coleman Hall, Room 142) or you can visit the website: https://scdva.sc.gov/sites/default/files/Documents/Images/TuitionAssistanceApplication-Fillable-VA.pdf. * Please note: Both the student and veteran parent must be actual residents of the State of South Carolina to qualify for this benefit.
- If you are transferring to TCL and have previously used this benefit, you will need to contact the South Carolina Department of Veterans Affairs to request a transfer letter at 803.647.2434.
- Submit Your Application: Completed applications can be mailed or faxed to the South Carolina Division of Veterans Affairs

- South Carolina Free Tuition Approval Letter: If approved, you will get a letter mailed from South Carolina’s Governor Office. Submit your South Carolina Free Tuition (SC Governor’s) Letter to the VA Certifying Official via email to firstname.lastname@example.org or on-campus inside inside the Veterans Resource Center (Building 12: MacLean Hall, Room 107 or Building 2: Coleman Hall, Room 142) for processing purposes.
