1. Program of Study

Our 80+ accredited programs of study provide you with the education you need to land a great career or transfer to a four-year university. In fact, 93 percent of our graduates go on to work in their field of study or continue their education. (You’ll need to declare a major when you apply.) If you need assistance with selecting your program of study utilize our free career assessment tool at www.tcl.edu/admissions/career-coach.


2. ApplicationComplete the TCL application online at www.tcl.edu/apply.


5. Financial AidAll students are encouraged to complete the federal government’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.govTCL’s school code is 009910. You must complete the FAFSA for all financial aid including Pell Grant, the SC Lottery Tuition Assistance program, SC Wins and the Building a Better Lowcountry Scholarship.


6. Email and AccountsCheck the email you used to apply!  You will receive an email from your Admissions Counselor on how to set up your TCL email account. Your TCL email account will be used by Admissions, Financial Aid and Student Records to communicate with you throughout the enrollment process.

3. Transcripts and Documentation
Contact your High School and/or college to mail transcripts to the TCL Admissions Office.  Attn: TCL Admissions, PO Box 1288, Beaufort, SC 29901

Official Transcripts can also be emailed (by the high school) or sent electronically to admissions@tcl.edu or hand-delivered to the TCL Admissions Office in a sealed envelope. College transcripts may be sent electronically to srecords@tcl.edu or hand-delivered to Student Records.

*The Admissions Office will use Multiple Measures as a means for admission and placement during the enrollment process. High School transcripts and/or GED Scores will be reviewed by admissions/advising staff to admit and place students into college-level courses when applicable.

**If you are having an issue obtaining your transcripts due to school closures, please contact your admissions counselor or email admissions@tcl.edu for further assistance. For issues with obtaining your college transcripts, please contact srecords@tcl.edu**

You may have been selected for residency verification or legal presence verification. You will be notified of this in your TCL email account.  If you were selected for verification, please refer to our New Student Documentation and Residency page on our website. Submit your documents to your admissions counselor or admissions@tcl.edu using your TCL email account.


4. Placement and Testing

Not everyone needs a placement test, but if Admissions advises you to do so, you can schedule a placement test. Students may also submit SAT/ACT/IB/AP scores.

**The Admissions Office will use Multiple Measures as a means for admission and placement during the enrollment process. High School transcripts and/or GED Scores will be reviewed by admissions/advising staff to admit and place students into college-level courses when applicable.

**Please be patient as we work to provide alternatives for placement testing remotely. If you have submit High School/College transcripts, please contact Admissions regarding placement testing next steps. Check your TCL email for continued updates.**


10. OrientationAll New Students must participate in New Student Orientation! Register now at www.tcl.edu/orientation. We are currently offering an online option in Blackboard and virtual orientations with Zoom. Learn how to navigate through your college journey with success!  A new platform for orientation is coming for Spring 2021!


7. Academic Advising and Support

After you have completed your enrollment steps you will be sent an an email on contacting your advisor to set  up your classes. Contact them immediately to set up an appointment for advisement. Your advisor will help you choose your appropriate classes and discuss your degree completion plan.


8. Registration

After you meet with your Academic Advisor, register online using your TCL Self-Service Student Planner. Use the Quick Student Planning and Registration Guide for step by step registration instructions.


9. Payment

Pay your outstanding tuition and fees or sign up for the payment plan. Check your residency status prior to paying your bill. You may have been selected for residency verification and need to submit documentation to TLC Admissions. Follow up with Financial Aid to make sure everything is set. Set up the payment plan or pay for your classes in full prior to the deadline to avoid being dropped from your classes. You can set up payments online in Self Service or in-person at the Beaufort Mather and New River Campuses.


11. Books and Supplies
Visit www.tcl.edu/bookstore for all the details. The bookstore is currently available for students to purchase their books online and have them shipped to their home free of charge. There are alos curbside pick-up options at the Beaufort Mather Campus. There is only 1 bookstore and it is located at the Beaufort Mather Campus.
