APPLY

Choose program of study.

Our 70+ accredited programs of study provide you with the education you need to land a great career or transfer to a four-year university. In fact, 93 percent of our graduates go on to work in their field of study or continue their education. (You’ll need to declare a major when you apply.) If you need assistance with selecting your program of study utilize our free career assessment tool at tcl.edu/admissions/career-coach.

Submit your application.

Complete the TCL application online at tcl.edu/apply.

Set up your TCL email account.

Check the email you used to apply! You will receive an email from your Admissions Counselor on how to set up your TCL email account. Your TCL email account will be used by Admissions, Financial Aid and Student Records to communicate with you throughout the enrollment process.

Download the Navigate App

The Navigate App is used by all students to schedule appointments with Admissions, the HUB Navigators, Tutoring, and other support services. It is also used to communicate with students about the onboarding process, class registration, grades, early alerts, and campus event announcements. This is a one stop tool for all of your academic needs at TCL.

Complete New Student Orientation.

All new students must complete online orientation prior to registering with their advisor. Click this link to access New Student Orientation or go to tcl.edu/orientation for more information.

Submit your FAFSA & follow up with Financial Aid.

All students are encouraged to complete the federal government’s Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at fafsa.ed.govTCL’s school code is 009910. You must complete the FAFSA for all financial aid including Pell Grant, the SC Lottery Tuition Assistance program, SC Wins and the Building a Better Lowcountry Scholarship.

Submit documents.

Contact your High School and/or college to mail transcripts to the TCL Admissions Office. Attn: TCL Admissions, PO Box 1288, Beaufort, SC 29901

Official Transcripts can also be emailed (by the high school) or sent electronically to admissions@tcl.edu or hand-delivered to the TCL Admissions Office in a sealed envelope. College transcripts may be sent electronically to srecords@tcl.edu or hand-delivered to Student Records.

*The Admissions Office will use Multiple Measures as a means for admission and placement during the enrollment process. High School transcripts and/or GED Scores will be reviewed by admissions/advising staff to admit and place students into college-level courses when applicable.

**If you are having an issue obtaining your transcripts due to school closures, please contact your admissions counselor or email admissions@tcl.edu for further assistance. For issues with obtaining your college transcripts, please contact srecords@tcl.edu**

You may have been selected for residency verification or legal presence verification. You will be notified of this in your TCL email account. If you were selected for verification, please refer to our New Student Documentation and Residency page on our website. Submit your documents to your admissions counselor or admissions@tcl.edu using your TCL email account.

Submit placement testing.

Not everyone needs a placement test, but if Admissions advises you to do so, you can schedule a placement test. Students may also submit SAT/ACT/IB/AP scores.

**Please be patient as we work to provide alternatives for placement testing remotely. If you have submit High School/College transcripts, please contact Admissions regarding placement testing next steps. Check your TCL email for continued updates.**

REGISTER

Meet with your Navigator or Faculty Advisor.

Each student is assigned a Navigator and a faculty advisor. Your Navigator will primarily assist career counseling, first-year advising, and will help you plan your courses for your entire program. Navigators will also assist with general financial aid assistance and financial literacy training. Your faculty advisor will assist with more program specific questions as well as graduation application assistance. You can schedule an appointment with your Navigator by downloading the Navigate app to your phone or desktop.

Register for classes.

Once you’ve met with your Navigator to discuss your career goals and program selection, you are eligible to register! Your Navigator will help you map out your courses, so you do not have to worry about picking them out on your own.

Remember: if you need help with registration, always know you can reach out to your Navigator for assistance!

PAY

Set up Self Service Account.

Through Self Service (selfservice.tcl.edu) you can:

  • Pay
  • Check Financial Aid status/awards

The login for your TCL Self Service account are the same as your TCL email credentials.

Confirm financial plans.

Visit tcl.edu/tuition-fees to see how residency, semester hour load, and fees determine your total tuition and fees.

Pay your bill or set-up payment plan.

Pay your outstanding tuition and fees or sign up for the payment plan. Check your residency status prior to paying your bill. You may have been selected for residency verification and need to submit documentation to TLC Admissions. Follow up with Financial Aid to make sure everything is set. Set up the payment plan or pay for your classes in full prior to the deadline to avoid being dropped from your classes. You can set up payments online in Self Service or in-person at the Beaufort Mather and New River Campuses.

ATTEND

Register and Attend Student Success Events.

These events will be taking place the week before classes start. Here you will get your Student ID, Parking Pass, buy your books, complete financial literacy training, get to know your peers, attend a student life open house and more! It is a great way get all the tools you need to succeed at TCL. More information/dates/times will be sent to your TCL email.

Purchase books and supplies.

After you register for classes, you will begin to receive emails from the TCL College Store “First Day Complete” program. This is a textbook rental program. Students have the option to opt out of the rental program and purchase books on their own. You can opt out in your TCL Self Service Account.

There is only one TCL College Store and it is located at the Beaufort Mather Campus in building 12 on the first floor.

Text Alert
Receive emergency notifications and event updates via text messaging! Update/verify your contact information at tcl.regroup.com. Sign in with your TCL email address and click “Forgot Password.” Follow instructions to complete the sign in process and then verify or update your contact information.

Catalog
Located at catalog.tcl.edu, the TCL Catalog is the College’s official reference guide and includes important, detailed information regarding policies, curriculum, enrollment processes, student services and more.

Set up Blackboard and go to class.

Blackboard is used by many faculty to provide course materials, post assignments and tests, communicate, etc. If your instructor is using Blackboard, your course will appear in your account.

Go to bb.tcl.edu or select Blackboard from the Quick Links menu at tcl.edu.

Click the login button.
Username: Your TCL email address
Password: Your TCL email password

A link to the online course orientation is available in your Blackboard account when you log in.
