TCL Hampton Hosts Business-After-Hours

Did you know that attendance at the Technical College of the Lowcountry’s Hampton campus has increased by over 400% in the past 24 months? If not, you missed out on that and much more at the Business-After-Hours and Open House held at the campus on Thursday, May 24, 2018. In addition to fast facts about the campus, self-guided tours highlighted the programs offered 100% at the campus including academic certificates and continuing education programs. This spring, over 20 different classes were held and that number will increase to more than 30 classes this fall.

How is there such dramatic growth at a local campus that so few seem to know about? Shelby Simmons, administrator, credits partnerships with local agencies including SC WORKS, WIOA, the Hampton County Literacy Council, Jasper/Hampton/Allendale Adult Education, the Hampton County Chamber of Commerce, and Hampton School District One. She says, “Through these partnerships we have been able to offer job fairs, increase CNA and PCT course offerings, expand academic course offerings for dual-enrollment credits, and expand student services. The increased overall support for the college in our service area has also benefitted Hampton Campus.”
