Calling all TCL students! The Technical College of the Lowcountry is looking to fill two newly created mascot positions to perform as TCL’s new mascot. The mascot will perform at on-campus and community events for the Spring 2025 semester. The best part?!? Mascot performers will receive a $1,000 award from the TCL Foundation for the Spring 2025 semester (specific criteria coming soon)!

Job Description

As a TCL Mascot, you will portray TCL’s new costumed mascot as assigned. The mascot will report to TCL’s Student Engagement & Career Development Coordinator.

TCL is planning to unveil its mascot costume in 2025, so students will also have the unique opportunity to work directly with the college’s mascot committee as it creates the mascot’s persona, personality and overall vibe. Ideal candidates will be energetic, creative and enjoy performing for diverse audiences. Must be independent and self-motivated.

Responsibilities / Duties

  • Complete up to 60 mascot service hours over the semester (averaging approximately 5 hours per week, including travel time).

  • Maintain high energy levels throughout appearances, execute routine and spontaneous interactions that are entertaining and engaging to audiences.
  • Adhere to TCL’s Mascot Code of Conduct (coming soon!).
  • Adhere to protocols for appearing at events, working with TCL representatives.
  • Act as a positive ambassador for TCL, upholding its values and conveying its messaging through non-verbal communication and engaging interactions.
  • Attend various events including community gatherings, and promotional functions, engaging and interacting with attendees to create a lively and memorable experience.
  • Take proper care and keep up with all parts of the mascot costume, as well as changing in and out of the attire and ensuring its cleanliness as best as possible.
  • Keep your identity a secret. No one outside of the TCL Mascot Committee and/or TCL’s Student Engagement & Career Development Coordinator should know who you are.

Compensation

  • Mascots will receive a $1,000 award for Spring 2025. (Specific criteria coming soon!)
  • Mascots will also be eligible for mileage reimbursement.
