Program Description
The TCL HVAC Technology program is the Lowcountry’s residential and commercial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning training center. Students receive hands-on instruction from certified instructors and can choose from day and evening courses in TCL’s fully equipped lab on the Beaufort campus.
TCL’s Designing HVAC Systems Certificate program specifically prepares students to design air conditioning systems, including equipment selection and duct design.
This 20-credit-hour certificate can be completed in as little as two semesters. Courses include refrigeration, heating and air conditioning fundamentals; customer service; duct fabrication; residential load calculations; and codes and ordinances.
And, here in the rapidly growing Lowcountry, HVAC professionals are always in demand and can work in a variety of settings such as in industries, for private companies or for their own businesses.
The S.C. annual mean wage for HVAC mechanics and installers is $45,240, according to 2017 reports from U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) testing
• North American Technician Excellence (NATE) testing
• Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute (AHRI) testing
