Nursing (ADN): Associate of Applied Science | Technical College of the LowCountry

Nursing (ADN): Associate of Applied Science

Paging future nurses.

TCL’s nursing program is the Lowcountry’s best and most affordable option.

Program Description

Applications will be taken for the Nursing program beginning July 11, 2017 through September 6, 2017. Please be sure to schedule an appointment with our advisor by calling 843.525.8267.

The healthcare industry is booming, and nursing is one of the fastest growing professions in the U.S.

Technical College of the Lowcountry’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program will give you the hands-on education and knowledge you need for a rewarding and in-demand career as a nurse.

RNs provide care at the bedside in a hospital setting, carry out medical regimens, and help individuals and groups take steps to improve or maintain their health. Registered nurses may also work in physicians’ offices, clinics, home settings and other public and occupational health settings.

The job outlook is exceptional for all TCL health sciences graduates. The South Carolina’s annual mean wage for a registered nurse is $61,110, according to 2015 reports from U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This means your return on investment is high.

TCL’s two-year ADN program prepares graduates to practice as registered nurses. Students experience on-campus learning using high-tech simulation equipment and receive additional hands-on practice at clinical sites located throughout Beaufort, Jasper, Hampton and Colleton counties.

The full-time RN program (ADN) consists of 68 credit hours that can be completed in as little as five semesters. Courses include general education, science, and nursing classes.

PLEASE SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A HEALTH SCIENCE ADVISOR PRIOR TO SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION. CALL 843-525-8267 FOR AN APPOINTMENT. COMPLETED APPLICATIONS ARE DUE SEPTEMBER 6 FOR SPRING 2018 ENTRY.

Certify Your Skills

Earn valuable industry credentials! Coursework qualifies students to apply to take the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) exam. TCL’s graduates continue to perform well above the national average.

Important Additional Admission Requirements

Applicants interested in the nursing program must first complete the college admission application process. You will then make an appointment to meet with a Health Sciences Advisor. Acceptance into the college does not guarantee admission into a Nursing program. Applications for admission to the Nursing program may only be obtained from Health Sciences Advisors. Participation in the program requires a national background check and a drug screen. Nursing classes are offered at Beaufort and New River campuses and may require attendance at either. Call 843.525.8267 for additional information and to schedule an appointment with an advisor.

LPNs may seek advanced placement in the program.

What does this program cost?*

68 credits x $170 per credit = $11,560.

Remember, this is before S.C. Lottery Tuition Assistance and other financial aid, which could drop your costs by more than half. In fact, after financial aid, many TCL students attend for free.

*Based on Fall 2016 in-state, in-service-area tuition. Your actual cost may differ. Qualifications vary.

Is this program for you?

Yes, particularly if you:

• are well organized and focused.
• enjoy patient interaction and caring for others.
• have good time management skills.
